Penhaven Country Cottages, set in rolling countryside only a few miles from the picture-postcard charms of Clovelly, are the setting for a quiet revolution.

An old accommodation wing is currently being converted into what are shaping up to be among the finest cottages anywhere in the country.

From the outside, the houses have a pleasing air of rural tranquillity, but a very different impression lies on the other side of the latch.

Inside are modern kitchens, furniture and also artworks, carefully dreamed-up, designed and created by selected interior designers.

Every piece of joinery is bespoke, and crafted to give a sense of style with just a dash of holiday fun and frivolity. Some rooms could be described as compact, but filled with nice touches and cunning use of space.
